The SX1302 chip introduces a 10× reduction in power consumption versus its predecessor while adding GPS time synchronisation for fine-grained network coordination. It simultaneously demodulates up to 8 LoRa channels plus 2 FSK channels, enabling a single gateway to serve thousands of end-node sensors across a city district. Built-in GPS receiver timestamps arriving frames with sub-microsecond accuracy, enabling TDOA-based geolocation of devices without dedicated GPS chips on each node. Semtech’s LoRa Edge cloud-native processing tools connect directly to The Things Network, Actility ThingPark, and AWS IoT Core. Ideal for smart meter aggregation, street-lighting control, and environmental monitoring networks.
