Schneider Electric

A French energy-management and industrial-automation group whose EcoStruxure IoT architecture spans buildings, data centres, grids, industry and machines.

Schneider Electric is a French multinational with roots dating back to 1836, today focused on energy management and industrial automation across sectors including buildings, data centres, utilities, infrastructure and manufacturing. Its central IoT-enabled architecture, EcoStruxure, is organised in three layers: connected products (sensors, breakers, drives, PLCs), edge control, and cloud-based apps, analytics and services — spanning specific domains such as EcoStruxure Building, EcoStruxure Grid, EcoStruxure Power and EcoStruxure Machine. This architecture lets Schneider sell IoT capability as a natural extension of equipment it already supplies (electrical distribution gear, industrial drives, building-management systems) rather than a separate platform sale. Schneider has been especially vocal about sustainability and energy efficiency as the primary business case for industrial IoT, positioning EcoStruxure around measurable energy and carbon savings for customers under growing regulatory and ESG pressure. The company also plays a large role in data-centre infrastructure through its APC brand, extending EcoStruxure into data-centre power, cooling and management, a fast-growing IoT-adjacent category driven by AI-compute demand. Schneider has a long-standing and substantial manufacturing and R&D presence in India, and is frequently referenced in Indian smart-grid, smart-building and industrial energy-efficiency coverage.
