STM32WL55’s dual-core architecture separates application code on the M4 core from radio driver and LoRaWAN stack on the M0+ core, providing clean RF-to-application isolation and allowing FreeRTOS applications to run unaffected by radio interrupt handling. The on-chip sub-GHz transceiver eliminates external radio ICs, reducing BOM cost and antenna routing complexity for mass-production LoRaWAN sensors. ST provides a certified LoRaWAN stack (I-CUBE-LRWAN) free of charge, covering join procedures, OTAA, ABP, Class A/B/C, and FOTA. Power consumption of 3.9 mA in RX and 14.1 mA at +14 dBm TX achieves multi-year battery life on coin cells.
