Unlike PIR sensors that only trigger on movement, FP2’s millimetre-wave radar detects motionless occupants — someone reading or sleeping — with no privacy-invasive camera. Up to five independent detection zones can be drawn in the Aqara app, enabling granular automations such as turning on a desk lamp only when someone sits at the desk. Fall detection mode raises an alert if a sudden change in radar signature consistent with a fall is detected, useful for elder care. Matter over Wi-Fi support lets FP2 work natively in Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa without a separate hub. Sub-500 ms response time ensures lights snap on the moment a room is entered.
