The nRF9161 DK integrates a single-chip LTE-M/NB-IoT modem, GNSS receiver, and application processor in a 10 × 16 mm SiP, eliminating the need for external modems or GPS chips. Its ultra-low-power design achieves <2.5 μA in PSM sleep, enabling multi-year battery life for field-deployed sensors. The nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr RTOS ecosystem provides a rich library of cellular, GPS, FOTA, and MQTT samples out of the box. Onboard SIM cards and eSIM provisioning support simplify global connectivity. The kit exposes Arduino-compatible headers for rapid peripheral integration.
