ABB is a Swiss-Swedish multinational formed in 1988 from the merger of Sweden’s ASEA and Switzerland’s BBC Brown Boveri, and today ranks among the largest industrial technology companies globally, with business areas spanning electrification, robotics and discrete automation, motion (motors and drives), and process automation. ABB Ability is the umbrella brand for the company’s digital and IoT offerings, encompassing over a hundred individual solutions that connect ABB’s vast installed base of motors, robots, switchgear and process-control systems to cloud analytics for predictive maintenance, energy optimisation and remote operations.
